NAVIGARE NECESSE EST: OUR STORY
We are a family that has lived and sailed since the days when ships were under sail.
Our grandparents passed on their passion to us, which we have transformed into expertise and professionalism over time and dedication.
We were already talked about in 1870 when Isodoro Negrini built the first swing bridge at the mouth of the Oglio river. With the proceeds from this bridge, Isidoro was able to embark on the river adventure that we still carry on today. Sailing from Mantua to the Venetian lagoon and navigating back to Milan through the Ticino and the navigli canals, by the end of the century, the Negrinis became part of the Società Fluviale, significantly enhancing their fleet.
In 1912, the Negrinis moved to the enchanting village of Governolo, where the Mincio river flows into the Po.

At Governolo, given its strategic location, they establish the Società Mantovana Barcari with a fleet that includes as many as 35 boats, but with the outbreak of the First World War, activities come to a halt. The society resumes in 1932 when it incorporates the Società Fluviale, once again increasing its strength. Unfortunately, the Second World War wipes out all these advancements. However, by the end of the 1940s, three generations of Negrini navigators are active: grandfather Luigi, son Nunzio, and grandson Augusto, who together contribute to revitalising inland water transport following the French and Dutch models. Specifically, Nunzio is among the founders of the first Inland Navigation School in Governolo.
The flow of history is like the flow of a river. Now we sail up the Mincio, a friendly river, and land where everything began: Peschiera. For us, it means more than we can admit. At the origin of everything, we have now arrived, ready to build new ideas, projects, and of course, to SAIL!
